Happy Thanksgiving from Montpelier, Idaho!

[Oops, was too busy eating, sorry!]

After dinner (play time!):

I am thankful for having wonderful and understanding people in my life, mainly my parents and Kyle.
I am also thankful for having discovered photography.
Without it, imagine what dreadful things I could be doing instead! [Kidding!]

I know I already blogged today, so don’t mark me as spam!
With all the hype about this blizzard going on here in Salt Lake City, I thought I would step outside to take some photos of it’s product.

And my favorite:

AND! This photo actually invoked emotion in my mom!
[You might wonder why I'm telling you this...]
She doesn’t come off as the observant-type; she sees my photos, but she doesn’t actually see them.
So for her to say, “I don’t like it, it’s very lonely.” quite frankly made me extremely happy!
(Thanks Mom, now I’ll expect a comment from you on every single photo I take.)

To all: be careful out there tomorrow!

Last Tuesday I did a session with Jodi.
We had both been pretty eager to work with each other, so when we were both finally available to do the shoot we jumped on the opportunity!

Anyone who knows my ambitions knows that I’ve been itching to try high-fashion.
About two years ago, I photographed two models who couldn’t quite pull that off – not because they weren’t attractive, but because we didn’t have the resources (appropriate type of clothing, accessories, location, etc).
After those shoots, I kind of went on hold with shooting people; I’m sure you can imagine how difficult it must have been for me to wait two years to finally scratch that itch.

To keep the theme ‘high-fashion’, Jodi brought some of her old prom dresses, which we further decorated with accessories.
[On top of being the photographer, it was also really fun playing 'fashion designer' (but it's probably something I shouldn't throw my heart at just yet...lol :) ]

Anyway, that’s enough talk for now.
Let’s get to the photos!
These are my favorites from the bunch:

I would call this shoot a 90% success.
Jodi is beautiful and it was an absolute pleasure working with her, but the location was causing me slight frustration.
As you can see, the background is slightly distracting since it isn’t continuous.
[...I guess I could've photoshopped it, but time, unfortunately, won't allow it.]
For the first part of the shoot, I was stuck on wishing that there was a seamless available in that studio, but I was forced to get over it.
Besides, a truly talented photographer can make anything work, right?

Hope you enjoyed these photos!

Stay tuned for photos of Kristin and Sara!

Okay, I realize this is my third teaser! in a row now.
It’s been a hectic week; I’ve done more this week with models than I have combined in the past two years.
But as I said in my last post, I will have to elaborate about it later, when I have time to gather my thoughts and have some photos edited.
Until then, I leave you with this (again!):

Now, off to Souk’s birthday party! (Happy Birthday, Souk!)

Spent about 7 hours in-studio today shooting, and let me just say – awesome! (and tiring!)

I can’t say much because I have yet another shoot tomorrow (and I’m tired!), but after that I will elaborate on this experience!

Until then, I leave you with this:

I hope you’re just as excited to see the rest of these photos as I was to do this shoot!
Stay tuned!

(P.S. I am aware that too many exclamation points were used in the making of this blog entry – but all for good reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) )

Despite what you may think, I have not abandoned this blog or the 365 Project.
I’m just…going through a “lazy” phase.
Yah, that’s right…
[Terrible, I know]

[Begin rant]

It’s been getting cold, and on top of that – my sucky lens is, to say the least, discouraging.
I always have to learn the hard way, it seems.
Right when I quit my job, everything around me seemed to break:
My old Nikon body has some shutter error.
My good Canon lens mysteriously dismantles itself.
Even the one string on my guitar that I did not have a replacement for popped.
What the crap?

And, up until the day I could not use my good lens, I did not realize how ‘good’ it actually was.
I took it for granted.
And now, I’m stuck with a piece of crap lens that I bought used, on eBay, for $50.
It’s an EF-S II series. Yah.
And the sad part is that I bought it blindly.

[End rant]

After spending all weekend (literally) researching, comparing, and ‘watching’ lenses, I finally came to a conclusion:
buy a lens that I’ve never had before.
I found a great “buy it now” deal on eBay and with the help of my dad (one of only a handful of people who actually care about my passion), I was able to get it.
Thanks Dad, it means a lot to me! Love you!

Now to wait the painful few days until it arrives…

But! Don’t expect nothing from me until then, for I shall continue to use my crappy lens…
